After being convinced to revise my soundscape design, I settled on the inside of an elevator. The inside of an elevator is a unique place, because it is less of a place and more of an inbetween place. Nobody goes to an elevator and stays there for a period of time, they just go inside to make their transition to another place more agreeable. There is a large amount of ambient noise inside an elevator, as the ropes as constantly pulling it up or letting it down. The progress is always being stopped and signaled by a ding or a dong and then the doors open. At times there is casual conversation and other times there is silence, everyone quietly hoping that the elevator continues to function. I will record a few trips up and down and try to capture the soundscape of an elevator ride.
