Farmers markets, filled with fresh and often organic produce and baked goods from local farms are particularly interesting in an urban setting. The market that closes Sennott between Atwood Street and Meyren Avenue every Friday is even more so noteworthy. Sirens and helicopters drown out the quiet Amish girls selling pies and cookies. The market attracts all different breeds of people, from college students buying tonight’s dinner to elderly women in search of the perfect tomato. The mixtures of urban and organic; old and youthful; noisy and timid make for a very strange soundscape.
