Project Proposal
The three websites mentioned on the "Web Designs I Like" page will serve as inspiration for my final project. They all seem to have an artistic approach to web design, one attribute I never considered myself having. This may seem like a pretty basic "goal," but I do plan to build vigorously on the foundation I will lay out here.
I will try to build on working with "The Strange" as a theme. Perhaps use different animations to make my "strange" photos even stranger (as the class saw in "The Youth in Lilliput"). These animations are obviously not limited to the pictures. Menu items will be more active, possibly changing from a picture to a text item as the cursor moves over it (Lost at E Minor).
The Psyched.in portfolio also includes concepts I would like to use. I'm assuming the drawings on his websites are those of the creator. I don't have such a talent, so I would use pictures of some sort to make an appealing appearance to my page. Also, would like to have everything placed on one page. The menu links will just jump the visitor to the area containing the information they are looking for. The only way I would like to use links is to lead into something better from the home page. This something would most likely be my final project.
As I mentioned before, I would like to improve on the strange pictures I have taken to make something similar to the motion pictures in class. What I plan to do is basically making a slideshow or themed movie based on those photos. Animation would be a great addition to my html and web design repertoire as well as major part of this movie. The end result would be something like "The Youth in Lilliput" or "The Flat," something that makes the audience just freeze in confusion and/or awe.
Revision:9/27/2011
Last week, I basically outlined what will be in my final project. However, I strayed from the specifics. In short, I am striving toward a slideshow or movie like those we have seen in class. However, I would like to base mine around a theme of a dark, gloomy fall night because that will be the typical setting for most of the semester. This will require me to feature pictures taken at night, using the moon as the only light (unless it is cloudy every night for the next two and a half months). This decision is also affected by my recent proposal of my soundscape idea (here). The rollover-style menu icons will consist of photos I have taken or sketches (if I have the time). Also, I will have a very slightly noticeable easter egg that will lead to the movie/slideshow. That way, it is almost as though the feature would be a hidden treasure, so I better make it good!
